Who we are
Bargain Fuel (bargainfuel.co.uk) is a free fuel price comparison service for UK drivers. We help you find the cheapest petrol and diesel near you using official data from the UK Government Fuel Finder.
What data we collect
- Account information: If you create an account, we store your email address for authentication and price alert notifications.
- Location data: If you grant permission, we use your device location to show nearby fuel stations. This is processed in your browser and not stored on our servers.
- Analytics data: We use Vercel Web Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data (page views, top pages, referrers, browser/OS type, and country). Vercel Analytics is privacy-friendly — it does not use cookies, does not collect personal information, does not track individual users across sessions, and is fully GDPR compliant. No data is shared with third parties for advertising.
- Cookies: We use essential cookies only for authentication sessions. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies are used. Vercel Analytics does not set any cookies.
How we use your data
- To provide fuel price comparison and nearby station search
- To send price alert notifications you have opted into
- To maintain your account and watchlist preferences
- To understand aggregate site usage patterns and improve performance (via Vercel Analytics — no individual tracking)
Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We use the following service providers to operate the site:
- Supabase: Database and authentication hosting (EU region)
- Vercel: Website hosting, deployment, and privacy-friendly web analytics (no cookies, no personal data collected)
- Resend: Transactional email delivery for price alerts
These providers act as data processors on our behalf and are bound by contractual obligations to protect your data.
Data retention
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data (email, watches, alerts) is permanently removed within 30 days.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent for email notifications at any time
Third-party advertising
We use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit our website.
